You’ve lined up a sitter for Valentine’s Day weekend and you and the spouse are ready to get a hotel room to enjoy a weekend full of debauchery and excess… or maybe just some extra sleep and a little cuddle time. Whatever the case may be, getting a hotel room can easily infuse a marriage with some much needed romance and excitement.
Getting away for a few days can bring the sparkle back to a union that has become a little lackluster; and with Valentine’s Day falling on a weekend this year, there’s no better time than now to plan that romantic getaway for you and your boo.
Before you book your hotel room though, there are a few things that you may want to consider in order for the both of you to get the most out of your stay.
1. Skip the discount site and book directly through the hotel website.
I know. I know. Discount sites give you the cheapest rate. Well, I’m sure you’ve heard the term “you get what you pay for”. A discounted hotel price usually equates to a “discount” hotel experience.
Hotels collect a smaller profit from reservations booked on a discount hotel site. In turn, the hotel may slate you for their worst room – The one minus the view, newer furniture, or fresh carpet.
It may sound harsh, but when you’re faced with two guests: one who chose your hotel based on quality, and the other who chose your hotel simply based on price, who would you give preferential treatment to? It makes complete sense when you look at it from a business standpoint.
2. Find out whether or not the hotel has a “couple’s” package.
I was recently brought on to help with Atlanta’s famous Artmore Hotel and their social media presence. When researching the hotel, I was surprised to find out that they offered a couple’s package called “That’s Amorè”. It includes chilled champagne, decadent sweets, roses, and breakfast for two. All for just a few dollars more!
Getting the hotel’s couple’s package will save you the time and effort of having to get all of those fun things separately. Not to mention the fact that it will make for an even more exciting time.
3. Once there, don’t be afraid to tip.
If you’ve saved up for your luxurious weekend away from the kids, don’t be afraid to go all out. Hotels still truly appreciate someone who knows how to tip.
Tipping generously will get you what you want when you want it and staffers will share your generosity with their coworkers almost guaranteeing you a prime experience. Everyone will end up working extra hard to ensure that you and your love’s needs are always met.
