This past summer a video made the rounds that somehow flew under my radar. After I saw it, all I could think was, ‘How could I have missed this kid??’ Meet Ton Do-Nguyen – A 16-year-old kid from Pennsylvania who most definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
Having dabbled in video production for a little while, Ton decided on a whim that he wanted to recreate Beyonce’s music video for her song “Countdown”. He painstakingly copied the choreography and editing frame by frame… and he did it all while wearing a Snuggie.
After months of filming, Ton had successfully recreated Beyonce’s video and posted the finished product on YouTube for all to see. The video became so popular that Beyonce herself saw it and posted it on her fan site titling it “Brilliant”.
When asked in an interview on Gothamist.com how he felt about his “idol” posting his creation on her site, he responded:
Oh my goodness, the very moment of seeing my face on Beyonce’s website had to be the best moment of my life. I can’t even find words to describe how I felt. Knowing that my number one idol, the Queen B, had meerly seen my video was enough to send me over the moon. The response was so positive, I couldn’t even believe what was going on.
Watch this side by side comparison and prepare to be impressed. This kid is “fabulous” – in every essence of the word.
