I’m sure you’ve seen the previews. There were ferocious tacos with sharp onion teeth and snarling burgers with french fry legs. Back, and more delicious than ever, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs will soon hit theaters with its second installment. The kiddies and I are excited about what looks to be a hilarious sequel.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where the last movie left off. Goofy inventor Flint Lockwood thought that he had saved the world when he got rid of his crazy invention – a machine that turned water into food. The cheeseburger rain and spaghetti tornadoes were brought to a hilarious and dramatic end with a triumphant Flint at the lead. Unfortunately, Flint’s invention survives and is now creating “foodimals” in the jungle. Flint and his friends embark on a dangerous and delectable mission to battle the hungry “tacodiles” and defeat the creepy “cheespiders” to save the world once again.

This sequel sounds even better than the first – with the imaginative “foodimals” standing out as stars of the film. Columbia Pictures & Sony Pictures Animation has decided to utilize those quirky creatures in an effort to help make healthy eating fun for kids. The Fruit Cockatiel (half fruit cocktail and half cockatiel) and the Tacodile (half taco and half crocodile) are two examples of how food can be intersected with fun. Actress Anna Faris, who voices Sam Sparks in the film, says,

The Foodimals are my favorite part of the movie – The cheespiders, the hippotatomuses, the cantaloupes. It’s really inventive and fun how they gave these food creatures personalities.

cloudy-with-a-chance-of-meatballs-foodimalsWe Got Kidz agrees! The “Foodimals” are an awesome way to get kids interested in making their own food choices and is the perfect opportunity to get in the kitchen with the kiddies just in time for the start of back-to-school.
