I’m 72 Hours In and I’m Liking This Marriage Thing…

I’m back! I guess the friendly spirits wanted me to get married this past weekend because – I hesitate to use this word – but things went… perfectly. This, I can honestly say was the best weekend ever. The weather held up, and minus a cute confused little round white man walking through my ceremony, the outdoor wedding went off without a hitch. As we walked into the parking garage to leave the ceremony,  it even began to rain a bit. I say it that way because a little rain is said to be good luck on a wedding day – a proverbial sign from the Gods.

The hubby and I had a short little honeymoon weekend away from the kids. It was a bit bittersweet though. Although nice not to have to get up with our babies, by day two we were watching Youtube videos of our little munchkins secretly wishing that they were there begging for our food and babbling incoherently like they do. Our hotel check out time was at noon, but as soon as we got up, we were packing and ready to make the trek home to our kids.

We’re an official family now and I can honestly say that it feels pretty damn good. People keep asking me how I feel. The best word that I can find to describe it is… comfortable. I feel like there’s a nice soft expensive blanket that’s been wrapped around our relationship – around our family. That’s a pretty good feeling.

Now we’re home – Immersed back into, for all intents and purposes, a new reality. The reality of snotty noses, potty training, and crushed Cheerios in the carpet. New, because we all have the same last name.
So far… I like it.
