We made it to 2015! Whoop, whoop! It’s a new year, which translates to new beginnings and fresh starts.
Every year I throw out that cliché “This is going to me MY year” speech. This year, I really plan on trusting in the magic of beginnings and doing everything in my power to start this year off right.
2015 will be my year to be successful in my career, successful in my marriage – and most importantly – my year to help my family find smarter, easier ways to eat a little bit healthier.
Thankfully, Minute® Ready to Serve Rice sent over some free product to help me start off the healthier family eating portion of the“MY year” mantra.
If you’re looking for healthier mini meals that you or the kids can take on-the-go, Minute® Ready to Serve rice is a really good option. Don’t take all of that negative press you’ve heard about rice and carbs too heavily. It’s not so much the rice that’s bad, it’s what people choose to put with the rice (or into it during the cooking process) that makes it unhealthy.
For example, Grandma’s famous butter rice and gravy, and Aunt Sue’s sugary rice pudding probably didn’t do your waistline very much good this holiday season did they? But eaten without all of the butters and sugars, plain white rice can be a great carbohydrate that has tons of health benefits.
When served with lean meat, rice can promote muscle growth. And thanks to those good carbs in rice you can even get a quick energy boost from it. With Minute® Rice’s portable cups, (that are ready in just 60 seconds) you can easily get the boost you need while on-the-go. A great idea would be to keep them in your desk at the office so that you can have a “smart” energy-boosting snack in the middle of the day.
I know what you’re thinking: Who wants to just munch on plain white rice all the time? The reality is that the options are limitless when it comes to healthy and delicious items that you can easily stir-in to your Minute® Ready to Serve Rice cups. You just have to think outside of the box.
I’m sure your kids would love to try a rice cup with a little peanut butter and honey added. (I know my twins did.) Or try adding some scrambled eggs and salsa to your Minute® Ready to Serve rice cup for a 60 second breakfast. You can pop it in the microwave at the office or send it off with your kids in the morning.
Here’s an awesome “stir-in” recipe idea that I’ve adapted from MinuteRice.com.
Minute® Ready To Serve Rice didn’t stop at just white rice in their Ready to Serve cups. There’s also Brown Rice, Jasmine Rice, (my personal favorite) and Yellow Rice Mix to name a few. There’s even a new one called Minute® Ready to Serve Black Beans & Rice that’s ready in just 90 seconds. My husband loves that one and eats it with everything.
I really feel good purchasing Minute® Ready to Serve Rice for my husband and my two little sweeties because it’s proven time and time again to be a quick and easy way for them to get some wholesome sustenance; And given that the rice cups come conveniently packaged in two individual single-serve cups it’s giving my family instant portion control to boot. What more could I ask for?
