“My Mother Has Cancer…” [Repost - Edited In Honor of Her Birthday] Happy Birthday Momma… We Love You

…Pancreatic cancer to be exact. This is a cancer that is known for its bleak statistics.
I pride myself on having a blog that is positive and full of content that will put a smile on people’s faces – so I will not turn this into a woe-is-me diatribe. I simply want to just take a moment to give my mother a huge thank you and wish her The Happiest of Birthdays

This is to a woman who has been a devoted elementary school teacher for over 30 years…

A woman who teaches in the morning, leaves early from school to go have chemo in the afternoon, then runs errands because she knows that she has a three hour time span before the chemo begins to make her ill – “I can’t stop moving”, she says cheerily…

To one of the sweetest women…

To one of the kindest women…

A woman who is, and has become my biggest inspiration – and a woman who has become an inspiration to everyone around her…

To a woman who after being in an accident that totaled her car, got out with a fractured foot to console the rattled, careless pizza delivery guy that was just moving too fast.

To a woman who has been fighting, winning, and beating bleak statistics for over a year and a half.

A woman who will not allow an illness to dictate her future or control her life.

It is a privilege and an honor to be your daughter. I hope that I can be half the mother to my children that you have been, and are to me. Again, you have been an inspiration to me and to those around you, and have single-handedly renewed my faith and crafted my prayers.

Thank you for being you Momma… Keep fighting… And Happy Birthday. I hope your day is wonderful.

First off I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Kudos!

Thanks… That’s easy… a shot of tequila. Ha! Kidding… sort of. No, a quiet place and a good writing utensil is all you need. But I agree, getting in that zone is half the battle.
